Sparking creativity and curiosity

Think about how a baby learns to move. They get no instructions and they are under no pressure to achieve anything. They follow their curiosity as it naturally ebbs and flows.

Glowing light bulb

The Feldenkrais Method® recreates those conditions for adults. Whether in a class or an individual session the approach is the same. We try something, notice how it feels, then try another variation.

Relieved of the pressure of getting a movement right, we enter a state of creative flow in which new connections are made and new solutions arrive organically.

This is a natural way to fine tune how we act. It’s child’s play. And under these conditions there is no end to the possibility for refinement.

Learning to play like a child again

  • New patterns of movement stimulate new pathways in our brains
  • We practise exploring without knowing what the outcome will be
  • Attending to small slow movements attunes us to noticing subtle differences
  • Process becomes interesting in and of itself
  • Immersion in sensation brings us into the present moment
  • So called “mistakes” become starting points for further exploration
  • We open to the possibilities of what is happening rather than what we think should be happening
  • We create the conditions for us to enter a state of flow

Getting started

A one-to-one Feldenkrais session on a treatment table

Individual Sessions

In individual Feldenkrais Functional Integration® (FI) sessions, I’ll move you gently and slowly so your nervous system can sense new sensory connections and ways of organising yourself to move.

Group Classes

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) classes are like moving puzzles which we are guided through verbally. This leaves us free to play while we attend to our inner world of sensation.
