Privacy Policy

I take the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what data this website and my practice collect, why and what rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).

Visiting this website

When you visit this website, the server automatically records technical information such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested and your browser type. This is needed to deliver the website and keep it secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are kept by my web hosting provider, who processes them on my behalf, and are deleted after a short period.

Fonts are served from this website itself, so no data is sent to font providers. Website statistics and embedded maps and videos are only used if you agree – see “Cookies and your consent” below. This website does not use advertising cookies.

Cookies and your consent

When you first visit this website, a banner asks whether you agree to website statistics (Google Analytics) and to content from other providers (Google Maps and YouTube). Nothing in these categories is loaded until you choose “Accept” or switch it on under “Preferences”. If you choose “Decline”, the website works as before, and maps and videos can still be loaded one at a time with a click. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Your choice itself is stored in small cookies in your browser (their names begin with cmplz_) for one year, so that the banner does not appear on every page. These cookies are needed for the website to respect your choice (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; § 165(3) TKG 2021). The banner runs on this website itself and sends no data to its maker. All cookies are listed in the Cookie Policy.

Website statistics (Google Analytics)

If you agree to statistics, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It shows me how the website is used – for example which pages are read, how visitors find the website and roughly which country they are in – so that I can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_2G0930G0SP, kept for up to two years) and receives information about your visit and your device. Your IP address is used only to work out your approximate location and is not stored. Google processes this data on my behalf; data may be transferred to the USA, and Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Data about your visits is kept for 2 months; after that only overall figures remain. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; § 165(3) TKG 2021), which you can withdraw at any time under “Cookie settings”. See Google’s privacy policy.

Enquiry and contact forms

When you send an enquiry, I receive the details you enter – your name, email address, phone number if given and your message. They are sent to me by email and also stored in the website’s database so that no enquiry gets lost. I use them only to answer your enquiry and, if you wish, to arrange sessions (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted when they are no longer needed.

You can also contact me by WhatsApp, Signal, text message, Instagram or Facebook. If you do, your message and the details linked to your account (such as your phone number or profile name) are handled by that service under its own privacy policy – WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook belong to Meta. Nothing is sent to these services unless you choose to use one of the links. I use your message only to reply to you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Booking individual sessions

Online booking is provided by SimplyBook.me. When you book, your name, email address, phone number, any comment you add and the time you choose are transmitted to SimplyBook.me, which manages my appointment calendar and sends your confirmation and reminder emails. This is necessary to carry out your booking (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). See the SimplyBook.me privacy policy.

To protect the booking form against misuse, the number of booking attempts from one connection is counted for one hour using an anonymised (hashed) form of the IP address. No names, email addresses or phone numbers are stored on this website when you book.

Clients and invoicing

For clients I keep the contact details, appointment dates and invoices needed to provide sessions and bill them (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Invoices and accounting records are kept for seven years, as required by Austrian tax law (§ 132 BAO).

In the course of sessions you may tell me about your health, for example an injury or a medical condition, so that I can adapt my work to you. I treat this information as strictly confidential, use it only for our work together and keep it only with your consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Mailing list

If you sign up to my mailing list, your first name and email address are stored with Mailchimp, a service of Intuit Inc., USA, which I use to send occasional news of classes, workshops and new writing. Signing up is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You will receive an email asking you to confirm your address before you are added (double opt-in).

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or by letting me know. Mailchimp is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See the Intuit / Mailchimp privacy statement.

Maps and videos

Some pages offer a map from Google Maps or a video from YouTube. Both are services of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. If you have agreed to content from other providers in the cookie banner, maps and videos are shown straight away. Otherwise a placeholder is shown first, and the map or video is only loaded when you click “Show map” or the play button; this choice is remembered until you close the browser tab, so other maps on this website then load directly. Only when a map or video is loaded does your browser connect to Google’s servers, which receive at least your IP address and may store information on your device; data may be transferred to the USA. YouTube videos are played in privacy-enhanced mode. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Instead of showing the map, you can also use the “Open in Google Maps” link. See Google’s privacy policy.

Blog comments

If you comment on a blog post, the website stores the name, email address and website (if given) that you enter, your comment and your IP address and browser details. Your name, website and comment are published; your email address is not. The IP address and browser details are kept to help detect spam (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); publishing your comment is based on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Comments from first-time commenters are checked by me before they appear.

No cookies are set when you comment. Comments remain on the website for as long as the post is published; you can ask me to remove your comment at any time.

Links to other websites

This website links to other websites, for example Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Tanzquartier Wien and Amazon. No data is passed to them until you click such a link; after that, the privacy policy of the other website applies.

Book links to Amazon are affiliate links: if you buy something after clicking one, I may receive a small commission. Amazon may then use cookies to record that you came from this website.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can ask to receive your data in a portable format and object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me. If you believe your data is being processed unlawfully, you can complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.

Changes

I may update this policy when the website or my services change. The version published here applies.
