How can the Feldenkrais Method help us?

“What I’m after isn’t flexible bodies, but flexible brains. What I’m after is to restore each person to their human dignity”

Moshe Feldenkrais

What is the Feldenkrais Method ?

How we encounter the world physically is the foundation of our being. The Feldenkrais Method is a sensory movement practice which engages with this foundation to enhance every aspect of our lives.

How does the Feldenkrais Method work?

The method refines our sense of what it is we are actually doing. The better we know what we are doing, the more choices we have how to act in the present. This frees us from habits rooted in what we learned in the past.

"My purpose is to allow people to move closer to actually being creatures of free choice"

Moshe Feldenkrais

"Through awareness, we can learn to move with astonishing lightness and freedom at almost any age”

Malcolm Manning
Feldenkrais® Practitioner

I discovered the Feldenkrais Method 35 years ago and it changed my life. I’d always loved to move, but I had a history of physical problems since birth.

When I was 14-years-old I was advised, “not to move too much and avoid lifting things”. The method opened the way for me to fulfil my dream to become a dancer.

Over the last 30 years I have taught in some of the leading dance educations, centres and festivals both in Europe and worldwide.

No matter what I’m teaching, the pedagogical approach of the Feldenkrais Method, shapes how I teach.

“We act in accordance with our self-image”

Who was Moshe Feldenkrais ?

Moshe Feldenkrais (1904–1984) was a physicist, engineer and judo teacher. After a serious knee injury he set out to understand how we learn to move and developed the method that bears his name.
